Language Milestones: What Every Parent Needs to Know
A free live 90min webinar with Heba Kalakeche, M.P.O., speech and language pathologist
Spoken in English

Is my child saying enough words? Is mixing languages a problem? Should I be worried, or just patient? If you're raising your child in more than one language, these questions probably sound familiar.

In this webinar, I'll walk you through:

  • Language milestones from birth to 5 years, and how they look different for multilingual children

  • How to count your child's words across all their languages, and why code switching is completely normal

  • Red flag or not? What's normal: mixing languages? A silent period? Understanding without speaking yet? And what's worth a closer look?

  • The parent guilt reframe: What lie should you ignore and what is the true added value of raising multilingual kids.

  • What really matters for raising a multilingual child, and what doesn't

About me

I'm Heba Kalakeche, a speech and language pathologist based in Montreal, and I've been helping children and families since 2012 through prevention, early intervention, and parent coaching.

Multilingualism is at the heart of my work: I work in Arabic, French, and English, and I founded Les Kids Kalam to give parents clear, research backed answers about raising children in more than one language. I also cofounded Leghetna, which brings spoken Lebanese Arabic to diaspora children through books, workbooks, and animated content.

I'm the daughter of immigrants and a mom of two multilingual girls, so I know this journey from both sides: as a professional, and as a parent at the dinner table.

Let's root your multilingual parenting journey together!
